OTHER EVENTS

STUFF WE'VE DONE BEFORE. STUFF WE MAY DO AGAIN. STUFF WE WILL DO AGAIN.

A Village Christmas

In 2014 our church approached the organizing group of the annual Ancaster Christmas Tree Lighting. We asked if we could help with the event. In a matter of weeks we were running the whole thing. Since then we've taken this event under our wing and worked to provide Ancaster with a fun, free, and festive event. Each year we welcome 2,000 people into the village for an amazing evening! We collaborate with Ancaster Heritage Days, the Ancaster Village BIA, and Santa. The event takes place the first Thursday of December on the grounds of the Old Town Hall in the heart of the village.

Syrian Refugee Sponsorship &  Fundraising Dinner

When the Syrian refugee crisis exploded onto the scene, we knew we had to do something. We've been honoured and humbled to sponsor two families coming to Canada. They have become friends, taught us so much, and they make our community better. And they make great food!

KAIROS BLANKET
EXERCISE

Developed in collaboration with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and educators, the KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) is an interactive and experiential teaching tool that explores the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in the land we now know as Canada.

During this 2 to 3-hour workshop, participants step on blankets representing the land and into the role of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. They are guided by trained facilitators, including Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, who work from a script that covers pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization, resistance and much more. Participants read scrolls and respond to cues in the script. The KBE concludes with a debriefing, conducted as a talking circle, during which participants discuss the learning experience, process their feelings, ask questions, share insights, and deepen their understanding.

CAMPOUT

We love to hang out. So every summer we head out for a weekend of sun, sports, fires, and chilling. This weekend takes the place of our regular Sunday gathering.

FARMER'S MARKET
VOUCHER PROGRAM

For many years we have partnered with and supported our friends at Ancaster Community Services and the Ancaster Farmer's Market. It's worked like this: you bring a bag of non-perishables to our tent at the market, we give you a $5 market voucher to use at any vendor, we pay the vendors back for the vouchers, and we deliver the non-perishables to Ancaster Community Services.

Win. Win. Win.

VILLAGE
SKATING
RINK

In partnership with the Ancaster Village BIA and St John's Anglican Church, we built and maintained a skating rink for everyone to enjoy.
