An experiential teaching tool to share the historic & contemporary relationship between Indigenous & non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.
Several years ago the Government of Canada began the Truth & Reconciliation Commission, focusing on many things but certainly highlighting the atrocities of the Residential School System in Canada. The work of the commission is complete, but the work of reconciliation continues. With support from Canada 150--Hamilton 2017, we hosted this exercise and invited the community of Ancaster to participate. We had a great night being challenged, sharing, and making a committment to move forward towards reconciliation.
